On this page
Not everyone wants to learn Markdown symbols just to make a heading bold. The rich text editor brings a familiar word-processor toolbar to Thpaste: select some words, click a button, and see the result instantly. It's now the default format on the composer — and every paste you make with it looks like a designed page, on any screen.
A tour of the toolbar

Every tool works on the text you've selected (or on the paragraph your cursor is in):
| Tool | What it does | Shortcut |
|---|---|---|
| Aa — Text size | Seven sizes from Tiny to Giant | — |
| Font | Sans, Serif, Mono, Display or Handwriting | — |
| B · I · U · S | Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough | Ctrl/⌘ + B, I, U |
| Paragraph style | Normal text, Heading 1–3, Quote or Code block | — |
| Alignment | Left, centre or right | — |
| Text colour | 12 colours, from ink to rose to white | — |
| Highlight | 6 marker-pen shades (or remove a highlight) | — |
| Link | Turn the selection into a link (or add a new one) | — |
| Lists | Bulleted or numbered | — |
| More | Quote, inline code, divider, superscript, subscript, remove link, clear formatting | — |
| Undo / Redo | Step back and forward | Ctrl/⌘ + Z / Y |

Paste from anywhere
Copy text from Google Docs, Word, Notion or a web page and paste it in — bold, italics, headings, lists and links come along. Everything else (scripts, odd styles, tracking pixels) is stripped out automatically.
Links that look like buttons
Turn on Show links as buttons under the editor and every link in your paste becomes a bold, tappable button. It's perfect for download pages, event invites, link-in-bio style pages and anything where you want one clear call to action.

What your readers see
Rich text pastes open as a clean document — no code box, no line numbers. On phones the layout reflows and big text scales down so nothing overflows.

The Copy button copies the words (with link addresses kept), and the raw view at thpaste.com/raw/<id> gives the plain text — handy for anyone who needs it without the styling.
Safe by design
A formatting toolbar means the editor produces HTML, and HTML can be dangerous if a site trusts it blindly. Thpaste doesn't:
- 1Rebuilt, not trusted
Every rich text paste is rebuilt from a short allowlist of formatting tags — headings, paragraphs, lists, quotes, links and a few inline styles.
- 2Everything else is dropped
Scripts, frames, forms, event handlers, unknown tags and styles that could reposition the page never make it in.
- 3Checked twice
The cleaning happens when you save and again when the paste is shown, so even an old or edited paste can't slip through.
- 4Safe links
Only web and email links survive, and they open in a new tab marked as user content.
Edit any time (with a free account)
Signed in? Your rich text pastes stay editable. Open My pastes → Edit and you get the same toolbar with your formatting exactly as you left it — the link never changes.

Rich text, Markdown or code?

Markdown can colour text with %red%like this%%, which is why it gets a "partly". Read the Markdown guide for everything it can do.
FAQ
Can I switch an existing paste from Markdown to rich text?
The format is chosen when you create a paste. In the composer you can switch freely before publishing — your text carries over.
Do fonts and colours work in dark mode?
Yes. Very dark or very light text colours can be hard to read on the opposite theme, so the middle shades (rose, blue, violet, green) are the safest picks.
Is there a size limit?
The same as every paste: 512 KB, which is far more than any formatted document needs.
